Ajibola Akanji

Ajibola Anthony AKANJI is a lecturer and researcher at the Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria. I am an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Furthermore, I am a multi disciplinary scholar with undergraduate and graduate degrees in the Social Sciences and Law. My research is primarily focused on the intersection of Co-operatives, Law and Public Administration for the implementation of Sustainable development. My core interest is Development administration with the twin tools of cooperatives and law. I have discovered the cooperative model of economics as a viable mechanism for the actualization of sustainable development. I nurse a strong conviction that the developmental challenges in the global south can best be addressed through a citizens based solidarity as found in the cooperative model of economics. To achieve this, there is need for multiple approaches such as viable legal frameworks, and improved synergy across divides. I am a member of the youth network, and Young Scholars Network of the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), and a member of the Law Committee of the ICA-Africa region. I was selected to train my colleagues from around the world on Co-operative Law at the ICA organized Global Youth Forum (GYF20), held at Kuching, Malaysia, in February, 2020.
