I am currently a PhD student in Ecological Economics at the University of Leeds researching the energy-economy relationship. In my undergraduate studies I focused on ecology and the interactions between social and ecological systems. During this time I started to develop an interest in ecological economics and the relationship between the economic system and environmental and social challenges. I followed this interest by completing a Masters degree in ecological economics at the University of Leeds. My PhD project is concerned with the relationship between energy use and macroeconomic dynamics. I am interested in the question how we can achieve significant reductions in energy use while maintaining a stable economy that delivers well-being (but not necessarily growth) for everyone. Using input-output analysis I am investigating specifically whether and how sectoral shifts in the economy can contribute to meeting that challenge.
