Nils Rochowicz
I am currently a PhD student in Applied Mathematics at the University of Oxford and a Researcher in the Complexity Economics programme at INET@Oxford. My research focuses on understanding Innovation in the broadest sense, and in particular on the recombinant nature of technological progress. I work on finding new mathematical models to describe how technology advances, in particular which old technologies are combined to create new technologies, and to find predictability in the pattern of technological progress. I also have an interest in the ethical questions that are related to which technologies should be explored and developed, both in avoiding potentially dangerous technologies, but also in how technology can empower marginalized groups in society, and expand the capabilities for the greatest number of people.
