Sattwick Dey Biswas

A simple question triggered my connection to economics. How do we determine the value of anything? Why are certain things in our society more valuable than others? What are the underlying principles of valuation? To answer these questions, I studied land expropriation cases in India. I have attempted to answer these questions via my doctoral thesis, “Land Acquisition and Compensation in India: Mysteries of Valuation” (2020) with Palgrave Macmillan. My upcoming publication is “Politics of Welfare in the Global South” (Oxford University Press, in press, scheduled on June-July 2024).
