Description

This Call for Papers seeks to bring together researchers interested in exploring the challenges and alternatives for development in Latin America and the Caribbean from heterodox perspectives. Participation is particularly encouraged by doctoral candidates in economics from the Graduate Program in Economics at UNAM and is also open to doctoral students from other universities in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), as well as students from other regions whose proposals focus on LAC within the general theme outlined. Participants must have completed at least 75% of their academic program to be eligible.

Objective

To foster academic collaboration networks among young researchers in the Graduate Program in Economics who address issues of development in Latin America and the Caribbean from innovative and interdisciplinary perspectives. The initiative seeks to create spaces for dialogue and the exchange of ideas that contribute to understanding and addressing structural traps and identifying opportunities for sustainable development in the region.

Topics

Submissions should align with the general theme and may include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Structural inequality and social exclusion.
  • Challenges and opportunities for economic growth and regional integration.
  • The role of gender and diversity in development processes.
  • Migration and its impact on economic and social structures.
  • Policies and strategies for overcoming structural development traps.

Submission Guidelines

  • Preliminary paper should be submitted in English or Spanish, with a minimum length of 4,000
