Description

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time. The green transition and its broader effects have garnered considerable attention across multiple research disciplines. These range from technological innovations in the natural sciences to the social sciences, which delve into the complex and evolving dynamics between society and environmental sustainability. In particular, the economic effects of climate change and the shifts required for a successful green transition have become key areas of investigation using both theoretical and empirical modeling. These models are essential for deepening our understanding of the complex interrelationships between the macroeconomy and the environment.

The aim of this workshop is to foster interaction among PhD students and young scholars whose research focuses on the types of models and frameworks mentioned above. Participants will have the opportunity to present their research and receive valuable feedback from senior scholars in the field.

The second edition of the Economic Policies in the Context of the Socio-Ecological Transition will take place on January 15th and 16th at Queen Mary University of London, UK.

We invite submissions from researchers working in the following areas:

  • Development economics within the socio-ecological transition
  • Macroeconomics in open economies and growth regimes
  • The intersection of climate change, finance, and macroeconomics
  • Industrial policy, international trade, and global value chains

Submission Guidelines:

  • Abstracts (max. 400 words) must be submitted by November 15th
  • Selected participants will be notified in early December
  • Full papers will be required by January 5th

Limited regional travel and accommodation stipends are available for selected scholars, based on the quality and relevance of their contributions. If you wish to apply for funding, please indicate this in your submission.
