Description

Join us at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) for a pre-conference dedicated to the latest advances in Macroeconomic Agent-Based Models (ABMs). This event provides a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field and engage with peers in a stimulating environment.

The pre-conference will take place at at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) on April 28, right before the conference “Microdata in Macromodels” at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) on 29 and 30 April

Participants of the pre-conference will be warmly invited to attend the related conference. The full program is available at the following link: https://sites.google.com/view/microdata-in-macromodels/home. Participants who wish to present their work can submit an extended abstract or full paper of them. They might be allowed to present in a dedicated session during the conference.

The two-days conference will bring together researchers from diverse modeling fields, including MABM, HANK, and microsimulations fostering dialogue and collaboration across methodologies. The event aims to build bridges among those communities and explore challenges and innovative solutions in using microdata for macroeconomic modeling and will feature guest lectures by Prof. Cars Hommes (Bank of Canada/University of Amsterdam) and Dr. Martin Spielauer (Austrian Institute of Economic Research).

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 31-03-2025

Pre-conference Format:

Morning Sessions: welcoming session, introductory lectures on agent-based models (ABMs) by Prof. Domenico Delli Gatti (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart – Milan) and presentation of the IIASA research agenda on ABMs by Célian Colon (IIASA) .
Afternoon Laboratory Sessions: Participants will engage in hands-on laboratories, gaining practical skills on how to develope and code a simple ABM under the guidance of Dr. Luca Fierro (IIASA).

The full program is available in the main conference website at: https://sites.google.com/view/microdata-in-macromodels/workshop-schedule?authuser=0

Why Participate?

Learn from Experts: Gain insights from internationally renowned researchers in the field of macroeconomic agent-based modeling.
Hands-On Experience: Develop practical skills in model calibration, validation, and application.
Networking Opportunities: Connect with a global community of scholars, from early-career researchers to senior academics.
Support for Young Scholars: Selected participants may receive partial travel stipends to attend both the workshop and the pre-conference.
Possibility to present in the main conference: Participants who wish to present their work can submit an extended abstract or full paper of them. They might be allowed to present in a dedicated session during the conference (preference will be given in particular to those study employing microdata).

The pre-conference and the workshop are ideal for researchers eager to explore how MABMs can address macroeconomic challenges by integrating microdata and leveraging advanced simulation techniques. Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in this cutting-edge field while enjoying the vibrant academic atmosphere of Vienna.

To apply and/or be considered for partial stipends, please complete the application form provided here APPLY HERE.
