Description
The purpose of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is to convene member countries every year to determine ambition and responsibilities and identify and assess climate measures. The 21st session of the COP (COP21) led to the Paris Agreement, which mobilized global collective action to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels by 2050, and to act to adapt to the already existing effects of climate change. This year, COP29 will be held from 11 to 22 November, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
However!
Before Negotiators, World Leaders and various representatives of Civil Society – including the YSI Members – meet in Baku later this year, they, as always, will meet in Bonn, Germany to “pre-cook” the outcome of the next COP. This important – and much less known – meeting is called the “Subsidiary Bodies” meeting that happens on June, 3-13 June this year.
This year, YSI will also be present in Bonn and to involve YSI Community, raise awareness of the Climate Process, as well as make the voice of the Community heard at the COP29, we are organizing this exclusive webinar live from SB60.
Join our session to:
- Learn about the Climate Process,
- Hear about the latest news from the Process,
- Understand what YSI’s engagement with the Process was up to date and what we plan for the future. How YOU can be engaged?
The session will be hosted by Maria Virginia Solis Wahnish and Mateusz Ciasnocha, both Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of the Farm of Francesco also running other ventures, Matera in the case of Maria Virginia and current Coordinator of the Law, Finance, and Economics Working Group within YSI, and the European Carbon Farmers and current Coordinator of the Sustainability Working Group within YSI in the case of Mateusz. Mateusz will be joining live from Bonn.
The webinar will feature short remarks from our invited guests followed by an opportunity for exchange between session participants.
