Money View Symposium | 14-15 February 2025

Dear Financial Stability Working Group,
We are happy to invite you to join the 5th annual Money View Symposium this coming Friday and Saturday, 14-15 February. This year we are grappling with the global consequences of the Trump presidency on money and banking. For this we’ll have headline discussions by Cecilia Rikap (UCL), Quinn Slobodian (Boston University) and Thomas Ferguson (INET). Furthermore, Maria C. Schweinberger will discuss the broken German business model with Wolfgang Münchau (Financial Times) who recently published his book ‘Kaput – The End of the German Miracle’. In light of the upcoming German elections later this month and the threat of trade war, much is at stake for Germany and Europe.
Steffen Murau et al. will present their latest research on off-balance fiscal frameworks, an important tool in dealing with large scale transformation projects. Finally, we are excited to hear Perry Mehrling‘s keynote on ‘A Money View of Macroeconomics’. Nina Eichhaker (University of Rhode Island) and Yakov Feygin (Center for Public Enterprise) will serve as discussants. Perry will also give us a glimpse into his latest book project.
