Dear Ajibola,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to kindly request your suggestions of Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to engage in the ISC expert group for the upcoming UN Ocean Conference.

The ISC is preparing for active participation in the UN Ocean Conference in June 2025. To support this, we are convening a multidisciplinary expert group drawn from the ISC’s membership, ocean-related affiliated bodies, and close scientific networks, spanning various disciplines across the natural and social sciences and representing different global regions. The ISC’s main objectives for this Conference are to unify and amplify the scientific community’s voice, convene scientific inputs, support a science-based political declaration, and advise Member States, the UN Secretariat, and other stakeholders on science-relevant questions related to SDG14 implementation.

The expert group held its initial meeting this week, where it was suggested that we seek the engagement of an ECR or young scientist. I would therefore like to ask whether you have any recommendations, particularly social scientists or economists working on marine issues. In terms of geographic representation, we are especially looking for candidates from North America and the Asia-Pacific region (we already have representation from China).

Thank you very much, and we would very much appreciate your quick input to ensure early engagement in the process.

Best regards,

Â
