About

As a senior economist and policy analyst, I am currently employed by the Government of Canada and hold an affiliation with the United Nations University (UNU-MERIT). I have completed a PhD in Economics and Technical Change from UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University in the Netherlands, along with an MA in Economics from Tsukuba University in Japan. During the process of developing my PhD dissertation, I was privileged to receive a Research Award from the International Development Research Centre (Canada).

About my research

Currently, I am actively engaged in multiple research projects that utilize the Business Innovation and Social Programs (BIGS) data, as well as the Quality of Life data collected by Statistics Canada. My PhD thesis, titled "How does the network structure affect firm performance and innovation incentives in transition countries?", delves into the examination of how the network structure influences both the performance of firms and their incentives for innovation. My thesis is focused on exploring various measures on the social capital and its impact on firm performance and innovation incentives in transition countries. To support my research, I conducted a comprehensive survey known as the "Firm's Innovation and Collaboration" survey in Armenia. Notably, this survey marks the first of its kind to investigate firm innovation within the context of Armenia. During the pilot stage of this survey, I collaborated closely with the World Bank and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. This collaboration was carried out as part of the Innovation Readiness Project, aiming to enhance Armenia's preparedness for innovation and foster its economic growth.
