Description

This workshop discusses the special features of the financialization in the global south. In particular, the links between larger and deregulated global financial markets, financial stability and development.

For this, some warm up questions will be:

  • What are the main features of financialization in developing economies?
  • How do we conceptualize the development of underdevelopment under conditions of finance-led capitalism?
  • How does financialization alter financial stability and prospects for development?
  • How does a comparative analysis of financialization across different institutional models in the developing world look like?

The activity will be a workshop, with YS presentation and comments by mentors. The workshop will be a in the program activity during the congress “Financialziation and development in the global south”. The mentors will be keynote speakers of the conference.

The application for founding will be through the general congress email, via a special founding request on the email body.

The process
Send an extended abstract of 500-800 words
Deadline for abstract: August 1st
Deadline for draft of paper or draft presentation: November 3rd
No fee will be charged to latin American YSI participants

Selected number of students will receive a partial travel stipend from INET's Young Scholar Initiative (YSI) based on their application and travel requirements. Interested students should state in their application their motivation for funding, country of origin and student status (Masters, PhD, PhD completed)
