Description

Last year, the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) lauched the series "Is Green Growth Possible? A Debate" where economists discussed the tradeoffs between economic growth and the decarbonization challenge.

The Sustainability WG invited Enno Schröder to present in this webinar his research findings with Servaas Storm, and to discuss to what extend the Green Growth strategy is tangible or an illusion to tackle climate and economic goals.

Enno Schröder holds a PhD in economics from the Department of Economics at the New School for Social Research in New York. His research is in international economics and macroeconomics, with a focus on questions posed by European economic integration. Schröder is interested in the relationship between financial globalization and economic performance; the operation of macroeconomic adjustment mechanisms and the design of adjustment policies; the relationship between international competition and national labor markets; the notion of competitiveness and the role of technology in it.
His dissertation deals with the euro area imbalances; that is, with the emergence of large current account imbalances in the period leading up to the Great Recession, their contraction during the crisis, and with the assessment of macroeconomic adjustment policies.
