Description

PLEASE NOTE THE CONFERENCE IS CURRENTLY DELAYED UNTIL AT LEAST SEPTEMBER 2020

The Department of Geography and Environment at the London School of Economics is pleased to announce a student-led conference that will feature research by PhD students (and early-career researchers) on the rapid shifts that societies are facing.

Changing social issues and literal shifts in environmental and spatial landscapes demand novel, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary approaches to these challenges. The conference aims to bring together researchers on the changes we will be facing and how to best approach them. We aim to highlight the contributions of new researchers who propose ways of tackling these emerging issues, whether theoretical, experimental or applied. We are committed to creating a dialogue between disciplines and welcome submissions from a wide range of social sciences.

This conference will take place at LSE’s vibrant campus in central London. The first day will entail a keynote speech as well as workshops, networking, and other events to provide plenty of opportunity for attendees to socialise and gain conference experience in an inclusive, welcoming environment. The following full day will feature talks and panel discussions in the style of a traditional academic conference.

With the support of YSI, we invite Young Scholars to apply to attend the conference and attend a pre-conference workshop together! Young Scholars will be given free registration to the conference and able to network with like-minded YSI members at LSE's campus in central London which will offer workshops on presenting, challenging economic ideas, and pushing the frontier of our conference theme: shifting landscapes.
