Description
In this first out of three webinar sessions, we invite you to join us – the YSI Members attending COP28 – for a conversation with our guests on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties session number 28 (UNFCCC COP28) convening from 30 November to 12 December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In our engaging and exciting session with your active participation, we plan to cover:
- What is the UNFCCC COP28 and its history?
- What is the role of the economy and Non State Actors (NSAs) in the process?
- How to get involved in the process no matter whether you are physically in Dubai, or able to join online only?
- What to expect from COP28?
- What are the challenges and what gives us hope?
Our session will be special as we are joined by two amazing speakers:
Maria Azul Schvartzman is a climate change specialist with over seven years of experience supporting governments and organizations. She is currently working with the COP28 Presidency Team on their Youth Engagement Portfolio having served as the Youth Fellow on the High Level Champions for Climate Action Team at COP26.
Gonzalo Muñoz Abogabir is the UN Climate Change High Level Champion from the COP25 Presidency, appointed by the Chilean Presidency in 2019. From that position, he co-led with Nigel Topping the global campaigns Race To Zero, Race To Resilience and GFANZ (Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero). Previously, he co-founded and led TriCiclos, one of the most recognised Latin American companies in circular economy and recycling.
The panel will be moderated by Maria Virginia Solis Wahnish and Mateusz Ciasnocha, both Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of the Farm of Francesco also running other ventures, Matera in the case of Maria Virginia and current Coordinator of the Law, Finance, and Economics Working Group within YSI, and the European Carbon Farmers in the case of Mateusz. Both are YSI Members who will be joining COP28 physically as representatives.
The webinar will feature a short presentation from each of the panel members followed by an opportunity for questions and answers with the audience and between the panel members.
