Description

Join us in a workshop to discuss ecological economics, sustainable development, and the green transition in Brazil, led by Desajuste. Desajuste is a network of young Brazilian economists who wish to rethink the economy and economic development through new and critical lenses. The group was created in 2019 and expanded during the pandemic, allowing it to become a nationwide network with more than 400 active members. The YSI Economic Development Working Group co-organizes the event. Through presentations and discussion sessions, we aim to expose young scholars to critical tools, methodologies, data, and literature on ecological economics and sustainable development in Brazil.

To participate, scholars must first apply through the official Application Form.

Following the application, participants can fill out YSI’s additional form to request financial support. YSI will provide travel stipends and accommodation for selected participants. The travel stipends are intended to cover transportation to Belo Horizonte, from where all workshop participants will travel by the official bus to Diamantina.

The Workshop will take place from 19 August to 20 August 2024 in Diamantina. By the end of the week, the Diamantina Seminar, led by Cedeplar-UFMG, will take place in the city. We encourage students to register and participate in the conference to deepen their knowledge of regional development, political economy, and demography.
