Description

The National Association of Graduate Programs in Urban and Regional Planning – (in Brazilian acronym, ANPUR) is a scientific association that brings together graduate university programs and Brazilian entities that develop teaching and/or research activities in the field of urban and regional studies and planning. Founded in 1983, ANPUR has since significantly expanded the number and spectrum of associated and affiliated institutions, bringing together seventy-two members today, active in the areas of economics, urban and regional planning, regional development, urbanism, geography, public administration, social sciences, and others. Every two years, the ENANPUR – National Meeting of ANPUR is organized, whose works are published in proceedings.

This year, the meeting theme is "ANPUR 40 years: new times, new challenges in a diverse Brazil". It arises from the need for a critical review of the field trajectory, and the inclusion of other perspectives in the current narrative on urbanization, the urban issue, and urban and regional planning, under the crisis of the State, the persistence of obsolete paradigms, and the threat to life due to environmental degradation and injustice.

The YSI Workshop aims to provide young scholars (Master’s and Ph.D. Students and Candidates) with theoretical and practical reflections to build new paradigms in Economics. Transcending the homo-economicus and utility-maximizing behavior postulates, and emphasizing the specificities of a social-embedded economy such as the popular economies, this workshop brings world-renowned mentorship to guide a mini-course, in Spanish, on the topic of “Other Economies and Alternatives”. During the workshop, participants will have a moment to discuss the research topic that they are developing in their thesis/dissertation. Participants will also benefit from the particularities of the urban landscape of Belém, a metropolis at the mouth of the Amazonas River.

Mentor: Ruth Muñoz (Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento, Argentina).
