Last year, organizations such as the OECD predicted economic growth between 2% and 3% for Mexico and Latin America. The CEPAL and the IMF provided similar projections, with 1.5% and 2.3%, respectively. However, the behavior, needs, and results of the countries in this region are heterogeneous. On one hand, we have countries like Argentina facing challenges such as hyperinflation, while countries like Mexico, Chile, and Brazil have the potential to boost vital economic sectors. In the case of Mexico, we have received favorable outlooks, as per the OECD, indicating a trend of reduction and stabilization in inflation, accompanied by a strong labor market and low unemployment. Remember that, for numerous countries, it will be a politically atypical year due to elections. This new and diverse context prompts us to reflect on:
- How did your economy perform in 2023?
- What is the expected growth rate for the countries of Latin America?
- What factors will influence the behavior of the economy?
- What actions should the government take to achieve long-term economic growth?
These questions are part of this seminar’s agenda and interest, so by its conclusion, we hope to have explored, described, and explained the upcoming panorama.
