We are now over 700 students and researchers!

Dear Members of the Complexity Economics Working Group,

we are very delighted to see a constantly growing interest in our working group. With now over 700 members, we are a strong team that can push research in complexity economics forward.

This year has already been a huge success for our working group. With the support of the Institute of New Economic Thinking and the Young Scholars Initiative, we were able to organize events such as:

  • PhD Workshop on Innovation, Economic Complexity and Economic Geography @MIT Media Lab
  • European Convening at the Trento Festival of Economics
  • Latin America Convening in Buenos Aires
  • Africa Convening in Harare
  • Reading Group on “The Origin of Wealth” together with a Q&A with Eric D. Beinhocker

Thanks to everyone who has participated in these events and contributed with their ideas and innovative research.

We want to keep this momentum going and move forward, therefore we are already working on new workshops, webinars and conferences for this year.

Our next event will be a webinar series on “Agent-Based Modelling and its recent Applications” which we organized together with the Keynesian Economics and Financial Stability Working Group. The first webinar with Tania Treibich, Assistant Professor at Maastricht University, will take place on Monday, September 24th at 5pm CEST. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there and having some great discussions!

Yours,
Coordinators and Organizers of the Complexity Economics Working Group
