Webinar “Local currencies and financial stability/inclusion”

Dear young scholars,

The Urban and Regional Economics WG, the Inequality WG and the Financial Stability WG are pleased to invite you to the 6th session of our webinar series "Reconciling Financial Stability and Inclusion across space".

We are happy to host Jérôme Blanc, professor of Economics at Sciences Po Lyon, who will speak about the role of Local currencies in enhancing both financial inclusion and financial stability. His general position is that the contribution of local currencies should be deceptive in the light of financial stability and inclusion, unless there are major changes in their context and extent.

Date: Wed March 14th, 2018
Time: 5 pm GMT (6 pm CET)

Interested in monetary plurality, he published Les monnaies parallèles. Unité et diversité du fait monétaire (Paris : L’Harmattan, 2000). He focuses especially on a particular dimension of monetary plurality, that is, complementary, community or local currencies. Servet) and edited Monnaies sociales : Exclusion et liens financiers, rapport 2005-06 (Paris : Economica, 2006).
