Start time:

April 19, 2022

EDT

Location:

Universidad de la República, Montevideo, Montevideo Department

Type:

Workshop

Description

As it has been customary for several years now, ALAHPE and YSI's History of Economic Thought Working Group will organize a workshop before the next ALAHPE conference (April 20-22, 2022, in Montevideo). The purpose of this workshop is to further the discussion on the particularities and challenges of doing history of economics outside the main centers of scientific production in our discipline, and in Latin America in particular. We will address questions such as: What's new in the history of economics? Are there differences in the agenda between regions and countries? What are the possibilities and challenges present in writing about the evolution of economics in our region? Are there discontinued research topics or agendas in the history of economics that may become more relevant in light of current developments? Are discussions about the survival of the history of economics in the United States and Europe relevant to our region? This will be an in-person event, but we're working on setting things up to allow interested young scholars to attend remotely. If you'd be interested in participating remotely please contact the organizers to let us know.
