Description

WEBINAR INFORMATION
Dr. Robert Hofmeister is a is a payment market infrastructure expert at the European Central Bank (ECB) Directorate General (DG) Market Infrastructure & Payments, Oversight Division and within there the Payments Oversight Section. In his capacity he oversees Foreign Exchange (FX) Cross Border Infrastructure which most prominently includes Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS – www.cls-group.com) the incumbant and defacto sole leader in the most liquid foreign exchange markets but also promising start-ups like Fnality International (www.fnality.org).

Robert is going to give an overview on FX markets and then discuss from a practical oversight perspective potential liquidity 'issues' within FX markets. Doing so, he will show the innovation that has been taking place, is being proposed at the moment to address these or which 'issues' potentially currently lack an innovative response. With this presentation, the Liquidity Project Financial Market Infrastructure (LPFMI) will conclude its Fall 2020 curriculum conversation with Economic Innovation.

LPFMI INFORMATION
As some of you know, LPFMI is concerning itself around liquidity questions in financial market infrastructure (FMI) and is therefore open to all questions regarding
i. Liquidity problems at FMIs – this is the core of this project
ii. Liquidity problems in the financial system – this could be the next LP focus
iii. FMI problems in general – this includes innovation such as blockchain / DLT
