The UN Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP28) in Dubai, UAE

The purpose of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is to convene member countries every year to determine ambition and responsibilities and identify and assess climate measures. The 21st session of the COP (COP21) led to the Paris Agreement, which mobilized global collective action to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels by 2050, and to act to adapt to the already existing effects of climate change. This year, COP28 will be held from November 30 until December 12, 2023, in the UAE.

We as YSI Community believe on the importance of being part of this relevant Process, for this reason, we are conducting a series of Webinars: “The UNFCCC COP28 Webinar Series”:

1. Our first Webinar “On the path towards COP28” was on November 24th at 5 PM CET. We had Gonzaño Muñoz as our special guest and we discussed what the COP Process is as well as what to expect from COP28.

2. Our second Webinar “From the Action Zone” was on December 9th at 4 PM Dubai Time from the Food System Pavilion in the Blue Zone of COP28, it was a space for Q&A between YSI members that have participated in COP28 to share their experiences, insights, and perspectives with the YSI Community and others.

3. Our third – and last – Webinar “After COP28” will be on December 20th at 5 PM CET where we will share and discuss the insights and conclusions from COP28 and think together about how to get involved on the road to COP30 through COP29.
