Description

The Keynesian Working Group is happy to announce a call for papers to the YSI Pre-conference @ ASTRIL 2024.

We invite you to submit your abstract to the pre-conference event organized by the Young Scholars Initiative at the 7th ASTRIL annual conference. The pre-conference will take place at Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy on January 24. Young scholars are highly encouraged to apply to the call for abstracts. If selected, you will be invited to present your work. Selections will be made based on merit (partial travel stipends, and accommodation will be available for selected participants).

The labor market is currently facing multiple challenges ranging from economic crises, to migration, demographic shifts, aging populations, and climate change. These factors influence labor dynamics, requiring active and comprehensive public policies, including minimum wage, unemployment benefits, and social contributions. Moreover, Governments and trade unions are key players in implementing these changes. Young researchers are invited to contribute to the ongoing policy debate.

The YSI Pre-conference Workshop at the 7th International ASTRIL Conference is a great opportunity to bring together young researchers to present their work, receive feedback from colleagues, and discuss potential collaborations. We invite young scholars to tackle relevant policy issues on the current macroeconomic challenges and their repercussions on the labor market.

We encourage contributions related (but not limited) to the following topics:
(1) Migration, Wage, and Employment Distribution;
(2) Aging Population and Social Security;
(3) Structural Change, Employment Displacement, and Social Benefits;
(4) Macroeconomic policies, budget constraints and income distribution.

The project is a partnership with the Association for Interdisciplinary Studies and Research on Labor (Associazione Studi e Ricerche Interdisciplinari sul Lavoro, ASTRIL) and Roma Tre University, co-organizor of the 7th International ASTRIL Conference. The participation in the main event is free.
All applicants must submit an abstract in English (300 words maximum). The submission deadline is December 1st. Decisions will be made based on clarity, relevance and originality of abstracts outlining the research question, method and (preliminary) results.

Important Dates:
Abstract submission by December 01
Acceptance Notification by December 15
7th ASTRIL International Conference: January 24-26, 2024
