Description

The French Association for Political Economy (AFEP) and the International Initiative for Promoting the Partnership of Political Economy (IIPPE) are jointly organizing a Conference with the collaboration of other associations, such as the French Association for the Development of Keynesian Studies (ADEK), Association for Heterodox Economics (AHE) and European Association for Evolutionary Economics (EAEPE).

The theme of the 2019 Conference will be “Envisioning the Economy of the Future, and the Future of Political Economy”. The conference will take place in Lille, France, from July 2nd to 5th, 2019. On July 2nd, a day of discussions among Ph.D. students (“doctoriales”) will take place. Further information about the Conference can be found here.

As the AFEP-IIPPE International Conference 2019 is closely linked to the plural views and multidisciplinary perspectives pursued by the Young Scholars Initiative (YSI), we are glad to announce the call for abstracts for two special sessions organized by several YSI Working Groups (Keynesian Economics, Financial Stability, Innovation, States and Markets and Economic Development) at this excellent and stimulating Conference.

Contributions on a multidisciplinary approach (i.e. economics, political economy, law, social sciences) with plural views (e.g. including the use of alternative/non-mainstream theoretical frameworks and models) are welcome. In particular, we encourage young scholars to submit communication proposals for two panels:

* 1) Innovations and financial stability: current dilemmas and future perspectives**
Theoretical and empirical contributions on relevant topics related to the session’s themes. Examples of possible topics to be covered (non-exhaustive list): *Financial stability and financialisation; fintech and digital currencies; green development and climate finance; robotization, unemployment and labor markets; Digital and financial inclusion, etc.

2) The role of the state in the economy of the future
Theoretical and empirical contributions on relevant topics related to the session’s themes. Examples of possible topics to be covered (non-exhaustive list): International Political Economy and Geopolitics; the future of the European Union and the Eurozone; monetary and fiscal policies; economic development; the future of the welfare state, unions and social movements; inequality and gender outcomes, etc.

Abstracts should be written in English and have a maximum of 2000 characters. Please submit your abstract through this form. The deadline for submissions is February 1st, 2019.

Candidates may also submit their proposals through AFEP/IIPPE’s regular procedure. However, they will only be selected to present at one of the YSI panels and eligible for YSI support if they submit their proposal through the YSI form, in the link mentioned above.

Successful candidates will be contacted by YSI until the end of February. In case of approval, young scholars are required to send their full papers by May 30th, 2019. YSI will offer accommodation and partial travel support for selected candidates. The partial travel stipends will be equivalent to within-Europe travel costs, but not restricted only to within-Europe based young scholars.
