Description

The Young Scholars Initiative(YSI) Working Groups on Complexity and Innovation initiated Pre-Conference Workshop in partnership with the GLOBELICS International Conference 2023 on Innovation-Driven Knowledge-Economies and Transformation in the Global South (https://globelicsindia.org/). This year’s GLOBELICS conference is also marked to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the prominent global network of researchers, academics and policy practitioners in the innovation and technology field. The primary objective of GLOBELICS was to direct attention towards the interplay of Learning, Innovation, and Competence-building Systems (LICS) to gain insights into the dynamic relationship between innovation and development. Notably, the YSI will play a prominent and influential role as a co-sponsor of the GLOBELICS International Conference 2023, in collaboration with NACLICS, The North America and Caribbean Chapter of the Globelics Academy (www.naclics.org).

The YSI Pre-Conference Workshop is scheduled for October 11, 2023, and will be held at the Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. This Workshop will take place the day before the GLOBELICS International Conference 2023.

The Workshop aims to bring together young researchers to create intergenerational, interdisciplinary, and interregional networks, allowing participants to share valuable insights on technical change, digital technologies and the government’s role in fostering innovation and a knowledge-driven economy. The Workshop participants will be able to present their work. In a panel session called "Empowering the Global South Economy through Digital Innovation and Knowledge Economy Initiatives", they will have the opportunity to participate in the discussions that will be steered and enriched by senior scholars, who will share their experienced perspectives on the field, ensuring an engaging conversation. The Workshop will consist of two Parallel sessions, one Panel Session, and one Keynote Session that will be combined with the Inaugural Session of the Globelics Conference.

As this event will be held in person, the Workshop participants will be able to actively engage with local young scholars/PhD students as well as with senior scholars. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their research papers and presentations from senior scholars and experts in the field. Selected participants will be eligible for financial support to cover travel and accommodation expenses during the conference.
