Description

Introduction
To honour the remarkable career of Professor Giovanni Dosi, the Sant'Anna School for Advanced Studies is proud to host a prestigious three-day international conference in Pisa, Italy from November 6 to 8. This event is designed to celebrate Professor Dosi's contributions to economic theory and to further fortify the legacy of the Evolutionary school of thought. International scholars will join the event, enlivening several panels that will delve into Professor Dosi's influential academic work. Key topics related to the field of innovation, inequality, economic complexity, and structural change will be deeply explored during the three days. In conjunction with the conference, the organizing team at Sant'Anna, in collaboration with the Young Scholars Initiative (YSI), is delighted to present a unique opportunity for young scholars—the Young Scholars Workshop. Taking place on November 8, this event will serve as an important occasion for emerging researchers to delve into the frontiers of the evolutionary school of thought, and explore promising avenues for future research. We have already gathered enthusiastic support from senior scholars attending the conference to engage in the Young Scholars Workshop.

Grant Opportunities and Selection Process
We are committed to supporting the attendance of young scholars at the conference. Interested students are invited to submit a motivation letter outlining their research interests and explaining why they wish to attend the workshop. Participants will be selected on the basis of their field of interest and their research agenda, as described in the motivation letters.
For selected participants, we will provide grants that cover accommodation and travel costs, enabling the attendance of the three-day conference. We are committed to inclusivity and will make the YSI workshop available online to all interested participants, ensuring accessibility and participation beyond physical attendance.

Workshop Themes and Objectives
The themes of the YSI Workshop are well aligned with the research areas at the core of the scientific agenda developed by the Institute of Economics of Sant'Anna over the past three decades, namely Economics of Innovation, Economic Development, Inequality and Labor Economics, and Complexity. By fostering interactions between senior and young scholars, the workshop aims to create an enriching and collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing, networking, and the exploration of new research avenues. Participating in this event represents a significant opportunity for both our organization and the YSI network to engage with leading scholars and facilitate the growth and development of young scholars within the evolutionary school of thought.
